Once connected, Loop & Tie reads a small set of employee information from Rippling and keeps it up to date on a rolling basis. You can then use Loop & Tie’s automation tools to send thoughtful gifts to every employee on their special day, no extra work required.

Installation

Prerequisites

Before setting up the integration, make sure the following items are in place:

  • Active Loop & Tie account with the HRIS Integration feature enabled (contact Loop & Tie if you’re unsure)
  • Admin access to your Rippling account
  • Permission to install apps from the Rippling App Shop

How to Set Up the Integration

Setup is straightforward and takes just a few minutes. Follow these steps:

1. Install the Loop & Tie app from the Rippling App Shop
  • In Rippling, navigate to the App Shop and search for “Loop & Tie.”
  • Click Install and follow the prompts.
2. Authorize the connection to Loop & Tie
  • You’ll be prompted to log in to your Loop & Tie account and grant Rippling read-only access to employee data.
3. Confirm the initial data sync
  • Once connected, Loop & Tie will perform an initial sync to import your current employee roster.
  • You can verify the sync completed successfully from the Loop & Tie dashboard.
  • Please note: the initial sync may take a couple hours to complete.
4. Set up gift automations in Loop & Tie
  • In Loop & Tie, navigate to Automations and configure rules for birthdays and/or work anniversaries.
  • Select your preferred gift collections and sending preferences.
  • Save and you’re done! The automations will run on their own going forward.

How Does the Sync Work?

Automatic Sync (Every 24 Hours)

By default, Loop & Tie syncs with Rippling once every 24 hours. During each sync:

  • New employees added to Rippling are automatically imported into Loop & Tie
  • Employees who have been terminated or marked inactive in Rippling are removed from Loop & Tie
  • Updated fields (e.g., email changes, name changes) are reflected in Loop & Tie

Manual Sync (On-Demand)

If you need an immediate update—for example, a new hire who started mid-day—you can trigger a manual sync directly from the Loop & Tie dashboard:

  1. Log in to your Loop & Tie account
  2. Navigate to Integrations > Rippling
  3. Click “Sync Now” to pull the latest data from Rippling immediately

⏱ Timing Note

Manual syncs typically complete within a few minutes. If a new hire started today and you need them in Loop & Tie right away, use the manual sync rather than waiting for the overnight automatic sync.

The following FAQs are designed to help you troubleshoot common questions and edge cases without needing to contact support.

General

Q: Does Loop & Tie write any data back to Rippling?

No. Loop & Tie has read-only access to Rippling. No changes made in Loop & Tie will ever affect your Rippling data.


Q: What happens to an employee’s data in Loop & Tie if they are terminated in Rippling?

Terminated employees are automatically removed from Loop & Tie during the next sync (within 24 hours). If you need them removed immediately, run a manual sync from the Loop & Tie dashboard. You also have the option of removing the employee from automated gifts. Any pending gift automations for that employee will be cancelled.


Q: Will the integration affect my existing contacts or automations in Loop & Tie?

The integration only manages contacts sourced from Rippling. Contacts you’ve added manually or through other channels will not be affected. Automations you have already configured will continue to run as expected.


Setup & Access

Q: I don’t see the Rippling integration option in Loop & Tie. What should I do?

The HRIS Integration feature must be enabled on your Loop & Tie account. This is a paid add-on tier. Contact your Loop & Tie account manager or sales@loopandtie.com to confirm it’s active on your plan.


Q: Can multiple administrators manage the integration?

Yes. Any admin user in Loop & Tie with access to the Integrations section can view sync status and trigger manual syncs. The initial setup connection only needs to be completed once.


Data & Sync

Q: A new employee started today. Why aren’t they showing up in Loop & Tie?

New employees added to Rippling mid-day will not appear in Loop & Tie until the next automatic sync (within 24 hours). To add them immediately:

  • Log in to your Loop & Tie account
  • Go to Integrations > Rippling
  • Click “Sync Now”

Q: An employee’s email address changed in Rippling. Will it update in Loop & Tie?

Yes. Field updates—including email address, name, and other synced fields—are reflected during the next automatic sync. You can also trigger a manual sync to apply the change immediately.


Q: We have employees in multiple countries. How does the integration handle this?

Loop & Tie syncs each employee’s country code from Rippling. This ensures that when a gift automation fires, employees receive gift collections curated for their region. A U.S.-based gift collection will not be sent to someone located in the UK, Canada, or elsewhere.


Q: Are part-time employees or contractors included in the sync?

The integration syncs all active employees as defined in Rippling. Whether contractors or part-time workers are included depends on how they are classified in your Rippling account. We recommend reviewing your Rippling settings to confirm which worker types are included in your employee roster.


Automations & Gifting

Q: Do I need to set up automations manually, or does the integration do that automatically?

The integration handles the data sync only. You still need to configure gift automations inside Loop & Tie (e.g., “send a gift on birthdays,” “send a gift on work anniversaries”). Once those automations are set up, they run automatically without any further action required.


Q: What happens if an employee’s birthday or work anniversary is missing in Rippling?

If a field is blank in Rippling, it will be blank in Loop & Tie as well. Gift automations relying on that field will not trigger for that employee. We recommend ensuring that birthday and work anniversary data is complete in Rippling for all employees you wish to recognize.


Q: Can I send a one-off gift to an employee outside of an automation?

Yes. Synced employees appear in your Loop & Tie contact list, and you can send individual gifts manually at any time regardless of whether an automation is configured.


Q: A gift automation fired for an employee who recently left the company. What happened?

This can occur if the employee was terminated in Rippling, but the sync had not yet run before the automation fired. To minimize this risk, run a manual sync in Loop & Tie as soon as an employee is terminated in Rippling. If a gift was already sent in error, you can cancel the gift in your Loop & Tie dashboard. If you need more support, contact your Loop & Tie account manager.


Troubleshooting

Q: The sync appears to be stuck or failing. What should I do?

Try the following steps in order:

  • Trigger a manual sync from Integrations > Rippling in Loop & Tie
  • If the issue persists, contact Loop & Tie support

Q: The integration was set up, but no employees appeared after the initial sync. What’s wrong?

This is usually caused by one of the following:

  • The connection was not fully authorized — try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration
  • There is a permissions issue with the Rippling app install — ensure you installed as an admin with full employee data access
  • If the issue persists, contact Loop & Tie support

Q: We’ve disconnected and reconnected the integration. Will we lose any data?

Reconnecting the integration will trigger a fresh sync, which will re-import all current employees from Rippling. Previously synced contacts that no longer exist in Rippling will be removed. Automations and gift history you have in Loop & Tie will not be affected.
